So, I am actually very delighted to share the collection of driftwood mirrors I have created. Well 20 of them. The other 3 have new homes – one is on our lounge wall, an other on my mum and dad’s and the other at very dear friends of ours. I am a little mirrored out at the moment, so will be dedicating myself to tanning this cod white flesh over the next couple of weeks. The weather forecast in South Wales is good!
My objective for each driftwood mirror was to create something completely unique. None of this production line malarkey, believe me. For each driftwood mirror I cut the circular hardwood back, glued the mirror on, and then spent several days applying at least 2 layers of driftwood pieces. As I mentioned before, I handpicked each piece, cut it to size and sanded it’s edges where needed. The really funky pieces were applied with little or no human intervention!
There’s a right mixture of sizes and colours of my driftwood mirrors to have a good gawp at here
I’m going to carry on creating more mirrors and experimenting with different styles. Also, I’ll be looking around for local craft fairs etc. to show and sell. If you’re interested in a driftwood mirror for your own home, or as a prezzie, please get in touch!
