Another month flies by, and the Halloween stuff is already creeping out on the shop shelves! Where did the year go? I am still to dip my toes in the sea too, whilst my lovely neighbour, a prominent member of Porthcawl’s Newton Buoyant Bluetits, submerges herself daily, come rain or shine.

Continuing with a coastal theme… I have however been scouring the beaches. This time Pink Bay and a little further on, for prime driftwood specimens. There’s always plenty to choose from, but I am still very much into getting my hands on the light grey and white pieces that have been truly sea-salted and sun-baked.

Since we last chatted I have produced another 4 mirrors, which you can check out in the Portfolio – Sea, Sun and Sand, Ocean Mystery, Ocean Spell and Silver Sea. In this Blog I thought I’d share the process I follow in building one those mirrors, Silver Sea, though some snapshots…

Silver Sea took about 3 days in total to complete. It’s quite heavy, weighing in at around 5.5 kg, and is 32″ across. A good chunky and rustic specimen that would look good in any coastal home!
